Takeuchi TB135 has plenty of digging power and a stable chassis in a still-compact package. Operators usually like the way it pulls in the trench, the reach it offers compared with true zero tail machines, and the generally reliable Yanmar engine, which will run for high hours if it has had halfway decent maintenance. On older units the complaints you hear most often are about hydraulic leaks, lazy or uneven functions, two-speed travel that stops working properly, and fuel or hydraulic load issues that can make the engine bog down under heavy work. Because of that, I always tell buyers to pay extra attention to a warm hydraulic test, pins and bushings in the boom and arm, the undercarriage, and the travel speed function before committing to a used TB135, especially if it has come out of rental.
