It's a bonus that the Cat 242d is above the horsepower class. It also seems to have higher stream rates on standard stream and higher stream if you get it separately. The 242d is a comfortable and efficient machine. The controls are easy to use, and the ride is smooth. I'm usually not that comfortable with a machine of this type. Another nice feature is the rearview mirror. It is positioned so that the operator can see it easily and never has to crane her neck. The loudspeaker also stays behind your head, which I think is a nice feature. Finally, the 242d has a cross member in front of the loader arms, which protects the hydraulic cylinders.
